Protests rock Indian industrial centre

In India, residents of the industrial and commercial town of Noida adjoining New Delhi have entered their fifth day of protests against a change in administration.

Police have taken about a dozen people into preventive custody and at least 30 protestors have been injured in clashes with riot police.

The anger was sparked by an announcement that nine districts including Noida, which fall into India's most populous state of Uttar Pradesh, are to be "denotified".

Protestors say the move will see resources being withdrawn from the area.

But the Uttar Pradesh government argues that the current police and administrative offices required to maintain the nine districts are a drain on resources.
